Journeys

The paths people really take, and where they leave

No funnel to define first. Journeys mines the sessions in your window into patterns, scores each by conversion and frustration, and opens any drop-off down to the sessions.

Patterns

Golden paths, loops, detours and exits, found for you

Each session becomes a sequence of pages (or pages and your custom events). Consecutive repeats collapse, and every contiguous run of 2 to 5 steps that at least 1% of sessions share becomes a pattern, with its conversion, median duration, frustration, exit and bounce rates.

  • Golden: the best-converting pattern with at least 2% of sessions, above the site rate
  • Loop: a step repeats, people going back and forth
  • Detour: converts at half the site rate or less
  • Exit: more than 60% of its sessions end there

On the demo store, 8,241 sessions over 30 days convert at 10.54%; the /cart → /checkout step alone is in 973 sessions that convert at 69%.

Journeys Patterns tab with AI insights tagged Golden path (‘/pricing → /signup converts every session’), Loop (‘Product detail loop on NW-JKT-001 signals browsing confusion’) and Common, KPI tiles (8,237 sessions, 10.5% conversion, 59s median) and a journey table with sessions, conversion, frustration and exit rate.
The golden path converts 246 sessions at 100%, against a 10.55% site average. The loop pattern shows 195 sessions going /products → NW-JKT-001 → /products and converting at 8.2%. (In this capture only Golden path, Loop and Common tags appear; no Detour or Exit pattern was generated.)
Drop-off

Pick a step, see who never reached the next one

Choose a starting step and the step that should follow within an hour, a day, a week or 30 days. You get how many did the first, reached the second and dropped, what the droppers did next and how many left, their rage, dead-click, error and frustration rates, the top errors among them, and up to ten sessions, replays and most frustrated first.

Compare converted with dropped sessions for the whole window and InsightClickIQ lists the friction pages: pages far more common in dropped sessions than converted ones, with the lift.

Journeys drop-off analysis for visitors who viewed /cart but never reached /checkout within 1 day: 1,259 did the first step, 973 reached the second, 286 dropped (22.7%), 100% of them left the site, with 52.1% rage clicks, 65.0% dead clicks and 0.0% errors among the dropped sessions.
Of 1,259 cart visitors, 286 never reached checkout, and every one of them left the site. The AI reads the 65.0% dead-click rate and 0% errors as ‘a broken or unresponsive UI element … rather than a code crash’, then lists the sessions worth watching.

Nothing is cached: each view reads the window you chose. A shorter pattern is dropped when a longer one covers 80% of its sessions.

Where do people drop between /cart and /checkout?Dropped count, rate, next actions and replays
Which pages are over-represented in sessions that did not convert?Friction pages with their lift
Do people loop between the product list and product pages?Loop patterns with their conversion

Outcomes

What teams do with it

Send traffic down the path that converts

Golden patterns show which entry pages and sequences convert, so campaigns and navigation can point there.

Fix the step that leaks most

The drop-off view puts a count, a rate, the errors and the sessions on one screen.

Remove loops

Back-and-forth patterns show where people cannot find what they came for.

Where it stops. Patterns are contiguous sequences; a step people take out of order counts as a different pattern. Very large windows are sampled to the most recent rows and the answer is marked as sampled.

Find your golden path

A week of traffic on your site is enough to mine the first patterns.
